April 11 weekend: Dad bands and haircuts

Hello, End2End friends.

Do you like great music? Good news: Two terrific groups — Last Night in Vegas and Not 4 Public Consumption – have volunteered to play the Battle of the Dad Bands this Saturday.

Do you like mediocre music? More good news: Big Font is also on the bill.

No, no, no. Big Font, with End2End rider Ed Bain on guitar (not accordion) should be fun to dance to, too.

Besides, the really good news is that the money from the event goes to the Island Kids Cancer Association via End2End.

The Battle of the Dad Bands, held at the Capital Ballroom at 858 Yates St. on April 11, will be one of two End2End fundraisers this weekend. The other will be on, Sunday, April 12, when Brothers Barbershop at 770 Fort St. offers haircuts by donation. Click here for more info on both.

Saturday night’s event will feature three local dad-powered bands taking turns channeling their inner Jaggers. Among them is Big Font, which includes not only Ed but two of last year’s riders, Bill Fry and Andy Dunstan (seen in thiss cringeworthy video). Rumour has it that another member of this year’s team might join them on stage, too.

Tickets to Battle of the Dad Bands can be found here. Please spread the word.
